GE and SonoSite, a developer of hand-carried ultrasound systems for the point-of-care, have resolved all pending patent litigation between the two companies.
Under the terms of the settlement agreement, GE will make an upfront payment to SonoSite of $21 million and pay an ongoing royalty on US sales and production of hand-carried ultrasound systems weighing less than 10 pounds in exchange for a perpetual nontransferable worldwide license to SonoSite's US patent family. SonoSite will receive these royalties until the patent expires in 2016.

Ford’s discussions with Geely Holding's to acquire Volvo from Ford have stalled over disagreements on intellectual property.
The talks are focused on the Ford's worries about sharing its proprietary technology and plans for new products. The companies have been discussing a possible deal for 10 months.

Entergy expressed disappointment in the city of Conroe, Texas’ decision to join the city of Beaumont, Texas in its lawsuit against the company over what it claims is a “staggering” amount of overbilling.
Entergy issued a statement Tuesday saying, “First, we stand by our position that we strongly disagree with the allegations made in the lawsuit, second, we are deeply disappointed that Conroe chose to take this action without having approached Entergy Texas to discuss the issue.” the statement reads.

Dell said China was a "bright spot" amid the computer industry's slump, with the country's massive stimulus spending helping to boost sales in the first six months of the year.
"China is kind of the bright spot," Steve Schuckenbrock, president of Dell's unit focusing on large companies, told reporters in Hong Kong. "Overall, the health of the investment in their strategies exceeds the rest of the world."

DuPont announced that it has declared a Q4 common stock dividend of $0.41 per share, payable December 14, to stockholders of record November 13.
This dividend is the same as what was paid in Q3 2009. Regular quarterly dividends of $1.12-1/2 per share on the $4.50 series preferred stock and $0.87-1/2 per share on the $3.50 series preferred stock also were declared, both payable January 10, 2010 to stockholders of record January 8, 2010.

Comcast will be the first cable TV operator to make available to subscribers online access to popular cable shows and movies with a goal to replicate what's available on television through video on demand.
Time Warner Cable and others plan to do the same as the pay-TV companies look to meet the demand for online video while preserving subscription revenue.

Bristol-Myers Squibb announced plans to close its Evansville, Indiana quality control facility effective December 31 and to implement a reduction in force at its Mount Vernon, Indiana facility.
In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) filing Tuesday with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company said it anticipates 113 full-time employees will be separated from employment. Of those, 79 are employed at Evansville and 34 at Mount Vernon, according to the filing.
