PAETEC Holding Corp.'s said today its fourth-quarter net loss narrowed significantly to $2.37 million from $114.43 million last year. The company reported fourth-quarter 2009 revenue of $390.12 million, representing a 2.5% decrease from fourth quarter 2008 revenue of $400.24 million. Eight analysts estimated revenues of $391.51 million for the quarter.
Analysts expected loss per share of $0.05 for the quarter.

Qwest Communications has announced the opening of its 17th data center nationwide and third center in the Washington, D.C., metro area, in response to continued customer demand for hosting and cloud-based infrastructure services. The new Qwest-owned and operated CyberCenter currently is supporting one federal government customer. The new 129,000 square foot facility will be equipped with redundant state-of-the-art network and hosting capabilities.

Cincinnati Bell said Thursday that it posted fourth-quarter net income of $4.2 million, or 2 cents per share, a drop of 88 percent from $34.9 million, or 15 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter. Revenues dropped to $345.2 million from $356.8 million.

Sprint Nextel Corp. said RealNetworks Inc. will take over distribution of Sprint’s music-related products and services, including the sale of songs, ringtones and ringback tones to wireless customers. Seattle-based RealNetworks, which sells music, video, messaging and other services to 86 wireless providers globally, plans to provide the content through a unified online store, rather than with a series of sites, as Sprint now distributes the content

Level 3, an internet services company, said it lost $182 million, or 11 cents per share, during the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31. It earned $43 million a year ago, but that translated into a loss of 4 cents per share because a $78 million gain from an early debt repayment didn't count toward per-share results. Revenue fell 12 percent to $924 million from $1.05 billion a year earlier.
Despite the overall decline, the company said it did see continued improvement in customer buying behavior during the fourth quarter, which contributed to sequential growth in core network services sales
