IBM today announced that UK airline bmi has launched its new look passenger check-in operations which have been transformed using the IBM self service check-in system. IBM has re-engineered bmi's kiosk, web and mobile self service check-in systems to make traveling easier and more convenient for the millions of passengers that use the airline annually.
IBM adds one more airline in Europe for which it is providing similar solutions.

NCR Corporation today announced it has signed a multimillion dollar deal with Westpac New Zealand to implement the country’s most up-to-date, standards-compliant ATM network and help fulfil the bank’s promise of better service in its branches.
The deal reaffirms the company's worldwide leadership position in ATMs.

IBM reported fourth-quarter net income was $4.8 billion, or $3.59 per share, compared with $4.4 billion, or $3.27 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2008, an increase of 9 percent. Total revenues for the fourth quarter of 2009 of $27.2 billion increased 1 percent (down 5 percent, adjusting for currency) from the fourth quarter of 2008.
Revenues beat street expectations.

The Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation today announced that it has committed $500,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to support relief efforts in Haiti following the earthquake that devastated the country this week. The HP Company Foundation also announced that it has committed up to $250,000 to match eligible contributions by employees of HP in support of the earthquake relief efforts.

Eastman Kodak Co. filed suits Thursday against Apple Inc. and Research In Motion Ltd. charging those companies with violating patents related to digital camera and digital imaging technologies. In a filing with the International Trade Commission, Kodak alleges Apple's iPhones and RIM's camera-enabled BlackBerry devices violated patents related to a method for previewing digital images. Kodak also filed two suits against Apple in the U.S. District Court for Western New York, charging Apple with infringing on patents related to digital cameras and certain computer processes.

Supercomputer maker Cray Inc. said today that based on preliminary results, total revenue for 2009 is now expected to be about $284 million and earnings are expected to be in the range of about break-even to a small loss from operations. Cash and short-term investments as of December 31, 2009 are expected to be above $110 million. Cray retired all remaining convertible notes during the fourth quarter of 2009.
