International Business Machines and French state-owned rail operator SNCF are set to create a joint venture as part of a six-year IT contract worth 1.7 billion euros ($2.47 billion) in sales, La Tribune reported. The joint venture will be 51 percent owned by SNCF and will involve the maintenance, development and production of applications for the railway operator, the paper said on Tuesday, citing unnamed industry sources.

Electronic Arts Monday said it expects GAAP and non-GAAP net revenue and earnings per share for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010 to be below the financial guidance previously provided on November 9, 2009. Revised fiscal year 2010 expectations are primarily the result of weakness for EA and the overall packaged goods sector in Europe in December, and a product mix shift to lower margin distribution products in the December quarter, primarily in North America.

Apple (AAPL)

Apple won an appeal over alleged iPod hearing loss when The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco affirmed a 2008 district court ruling that the plaintiffs failed to show that use of the iPod poses an unreasonable risk of noise-induced hearing loss.
It also found that the plaintiffs lacked standing to allege a violation of California's unfair competition law. Jeff Friedman, a Berkeley, California lawyer representing the plaintiffs, did not immediately return a call for comment. David Bernick, who represented Apple, had no immediate comment. An Apple spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
