EMC, Cisco, and VMware unveiled a joint venture to help sell a new integrated data center product, part of a broader alliance between the three giants as tech companies move to offer a wider range of products and services.
The joint venture, called Acadia, will help sell and provide support to large businesses and cloud service providers for the new product, named V-Block, combining EMC's storage equipment, Cisco's virtualized servers and networking gear, and VMware's virtualization technology.

Dell announced the completion of its tender offer for Perot Systems Corporation, an offer which has expired. Dell has accepted the shares validly tendered and has notified Perot Systems Corporation of its exercise of its top-up option to acquire Perot Systems shares.
As a result of the tenders and the top-up option exercise, Dell will own more than 90% of outstanding Perot Systems Corporation shares and expects to promptly complete the acquisition of Perot Systems Corporation, significantly expanding Dell`s portfolio of technology services and business solutions.

Dell was found liable for $12.8 million in damages over unfair competition and conspiracy claims in a lawsuit involving the New Orleans’ problematic crime camera surveillance program.
Defense attorneys characterized Southern Electronics Supply Inc. and Active Solutions LLC as losers in a competitive environment whose own pricing and pace of work cost them city business. They also suggested the local companies were going after Dell because of its relatively deep pockets.

Cisco may drop its 17.2 billion-krone ($3.04 billion) offer for Tandberg ASA as shareholders owning 24 percent of the Norwegian company press for a higher offer, said a person familiar with the transaction.
If Cisco is unable to get investors with 90% of Tandberg to approve its 153.50 kroner-a-share offer, it would strongly consider walking away, said the person who declined to be identified. Investors have until November 9 to accept the offer.

Apple reported in its 10-K that it has budgeted $1.9 billion in capital expenditures for fiscal 2010 which is 70% more than the $1.1 billion it spent in 2009.
According to its 10-K, the company “anticipates utilizing approximately $1.9 billion for capital asset purchases during 2010, including approximately $400 million for Retail facilities and approximately $1.5 billion for corporate facilities, infrastructure, and product tooling and manufacturing process equipment.”

BMC, a business software company, said it had GAAP net income for the fiscal second quarter of $94.2 million or $0.50 per share, compared to $69.8 million or $0.36 per share for the year-ago quarter. Total revenue for the second quarter decreased 1% to $461.8 million from $466.7 million in the same quarter last year.

RealNetworks said it earned $1.5 million, and broke even on a per-share basis, in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $4.5 million, or 3 cents per share a year ago. Third-quarter revenue fell 8 percent to $140.3 million compared with a year ago
The profit level surprised analysts.

McAfee announced today that it had third-quarter earnings of $36.8 million, or 23 cents a share, down from $48.8 million, or 31 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue jumped 18% to $485.3 million amid a 25% increase in North America. International revenue grew 11%.
