Pacific Gas & Electric (PCG)
Pacific Gas & Electric has unveiled crucial details about its proposed wave energy project off the coast of Vandenberg Air Force Base; a major step toward alternative electric power generation for the region.
PG&E said the project could be operational by 2014, generating as much as 100 megawatts of power and providing permanent non-fossil-fuel power for the base, one of the largest employers in Santa Barbara County.

Duke Energy (DUK)
A federal agency wants Duke Energy to explain how it handled heavy rain that flooded parts of Lookout Shoals Lake in Catawba County last month.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, responding to complaints from homeowners, has given Duke until Feb. 28 to report whether it operated according to the terms of its federal license.

Constellation Energy (CEG)
Constellation Energy announced today that the Association of Energy Engineers New England Chapter (AEE-NE) named two of the company's energy projects as the best in New England in 2010.
Constellation Energy's solar installation at Patriot Place was named the best renewable energy project in New England, and the energy conservation program implemented by Constellation Energy for Bristol Community College topped the list of energy projects at colleges in New England.

Ameren (AEE)
The Board of Directors of
Ameren Corporation announced today that Ameren Executive Chairman Gary L.
Rainwater, 63, plans to retire from Ameren at the annual shareholders meeting
scheduled for April 27, 2010. In connection with his retirement, Rainwater
has requested the board not nominate him for membership on the Ameren board at
that meeting.
Two other directors-Susan S. Elliott, 72, and Douglas R. Oberhelman, 56---are
also leaving the board with today's meeting marking their last regularly
scheduled board session before the annual meeting. All three directors will
complete the term of their service at the annual shareholders meeting.

Sempra Energy (SRE)
Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC is on the verge of striking a deal to sell the non-North American operations of a joint business with Sempra Energy to J.P. Morgan Chase , a person familiar with the situation said Wednesday.
RBS, which is 84%-owned by the government, has been ordered by the European Union to sell its 51% stake in RBS Sempra Commodities as a condition of taking billions in state aid. According to people familiar with the situation, bids for all of RBS Sempra came in at more than $4 billion.
