The Board of Directors of
Ameren Corporation announced today that Ameren Executive Chairman Gary L.
Rainwater, 63, plans to retire from Ameren at the annual shareholders meeting
scheduled for April 27, 2010. In connection with his retirement, Rainwater
has requested the board not nominate him for membership on the Ameren board at
that meeting.
Two other directors-Susan S. Elliott, 72, and Douglas R. Oberhelman, 56---are
also leaving the board with today's meeting marking their last regularly
scheduled board session before the annual meeting. All three directors will
complete the term of their service at the annual shareholders meeting.

Monsanto, the world’s largest seed producer, plans to lobby Brazil’s government for higher import taxes on an herbicide from China, saying that below-cost shipments are eroding its market share.
Chinese makers of glyphosate, used to kill weeds before crops are planted, are selling the herbicide in Brazil for less than it costs to produce, a practice known as “dumping,” said Rodrigo Almeida, Monsanto’s director of corporate affairs in Brazil.

Saxonburg-based II-VI Inc. inked a $40 million multi-year agreement with Department of Defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. to supply components for the Joint Strike Fighter, F-35 Lighting II.
II-VI (NYSE: IIVI) will be supplying sapphire windows for the aircraft’s Electro-Optical Targeting Systems.

Lockheed Martin announced that the Beam Control/Fire Control system for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s Airborne Laser Testbed (ALTB) successfully aimed the High Energy Laser beam in an experiment Feb. 11, in which a boosting ballistic missile target was destroyed.
In the lethal demonstration, the directed energy system aboard the modified Boeing 747-400F aircraft engaged and destroyed the threat-representative ballistic missile target shortly after it was launched from a sea-based platform in the Pacific Ocean.
