Google Surprises with Top Management Changes

Google today issued a surprise announcement saying that Larry Page will be the company's CEO, with current CEO Eric Schmidt moving to Executive Chairman. Google's other co-founder Sergey Brin will focus on strategic projects, specifically, new products.
While this is a surprise to the market, Schmidt says that Page and Brin no longer "need adult supervision."

HP (HPQ)

HP Enterprise Services today announced FCC, a Spain-based multinational public services company, has signed a seven-yeat technology services agreement with Hewlett-Packard Servicios España, S.L. The contract is valued at $300 million. With this agreement, HP will provide data center services and end-user workplace management for the entire FCC organization, which has a presence in 54 countries. FCC’s core businesses are environmental services and water management, construction of large infrastructure, cement production and renewable energy production.
The agreement is intended to transform FCC’s technology infrastructure to advance the company’s ability to compete internationally.

Dell has introduced new system management features as well as new Dell PowerEdge servers to address the evolving technology demands of large enterprises, small-to-medium-sized businesses and public organizations. Dell is introducing nine PowerEdge blade, rack-mount and tower servers and three Dell Precision tower workstations updated with the new Intel Xeon 5600 “Westmere-EP” series of processors, as well as new enhancements to Dell Lifecycle Controller and Dell Management Console (DMC).
These hardware and software solutions will offer customers management capabilities while providing IT platforms for virtualization, server consolidation, mission critical business and database applications.

Microsoft has unveiled its Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview, including expanded support for HTML5, hardware-accelerated graphics and text, and a new JavaScript engine.

Intel (INTC)

Honoring the next generation of American innovators, Intel Corporation and Society for Science & the Public today announced the winners of America's oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition, the Intel Science Talent Search. Erika DeBenedictis, 18, of Albuquerque, N.M., won the top award of $100,000 from the Intel Foundation for her project developing a software navigation system to help improve spacecraft travel through the solar system.
