Lockheed Martin Awarded $160 Million Navy Contract
The U.S. Navy awarded Lockheed Martin a $160 million follow-on contract for technical and engineering support of its land-based test facility for the Aegis Ballistic Defense (BMD) Weapon System.
Known locally as the “the Cruiser in the Cornfield” for its ship-like exterior appearance, the Navy’s Vice Admiral James H. Doyle Combat Systems Engineering Development Site (CSEDS) develops, integrates and delivers sophisticated computer software that allows the Aegis Weapon System to constantly evolve to meet the world’s emerging threats. CSEDS incorporates highly-integrated, classified, real-time networks that connect numerous contractor and U.S. government facilities.

GE in $200MM Partneship Deal
GE Energy Financial Services, a unit of GE, announced today that it
has formed partnerships to acquire West Texas natural gas and North Dakota oil and gas reserves for a total of nearly $200 million.
In the first transaction, GE Energy Financial Services formed a partnership with independent oil and gas company Marlin Energy LLC. Their new alliance, Marlin Permian, LP, acquired natural gas reserves in West Texas from an undisclosed seller for $65 million. GE Energy Financial Services will serve as limited partner. Marlin Energy, based in Lafayette, LA, will serve as both general partner of the partnership and operator of the assets.
In the second transaction, GE Energy Financial Services has formed a partnership with Sequel Energy, LLC to acquire oil and gas reserves in the Williston Basin of North Dakota from Denver-based St. Mary Land & Exploration Company for $137 million. GE Energy Financial Services will serve as the limited partner, with Sequel, also based in Denver, serving as general partner and operator.

Boeing 747-8 Freighter Successfully Completes Firs
The Boeing 747-8 Freighter successfully took to the sky for the first time today before more than 5,000 employees, customers, suppliers and community leaders.
The flight begins a test program for the world's most efficient freighter.

GE Profit Tops Analysts' Estimates
General Electric's quarterly earnings topped Wall Street expectations, as it kept costs in line despite sluggish demand for jet engines, railroad locomotives and other heavy equipment.
The largest U.S. conglomerate said Friday that fourth-quarter profit attributable to common shareholders fell 19 percent to $2.94 billion, or 28 cents per share, from $3.65 billion, or 35 cents per share, a year earlier.
Chief Executive Jeff Immelt said the company's 2010 financial "framework," which calls for 2010 earnings to be about equal to 2009 results, "quite achievable."

FedEx Q2 Earnings Drop
Federal Express said Thursday that its fiscal second quarter net profits totalled $345 million, or $1.10 a share, down from $493 million, or $1.58 a share, earned in the year-ago second quarter. Quarterly revenue fell 10% to $8.6 billion.
Fedex did say it expects stronger demand in the second half of the fiscal year.

Boeing 787 To Take First Flight
Reuters reported that Boeing Co. is set to make the first test flight of its 787 Dreamliner on Tuesday, almost two and a half years after the new, fuel-efficient plane, which is key to the company's financial future, was supposed to fly. The lightweight carbon and titanium plane, promising to save airlines million of dollars in fuel and maintenance costs, has been hampered by a shortage of bolts, faulty design and a two-month strike.

US Probing More Cases Of CT Radiation Overexposure
US officials said they were probing more cases of patients who may have been exposed to excess radiation from CT brain scans involving equipment from GE and Toshiba Machine Co., Ltd.
Food and Drug Administration officials have not determined if there was a problem with the machines themselves or with how they were used said, Dr. Jeffrey Shuren, acting director of the FDA's device center.

Fed Ex Raises 2010 Q2 Guidance
FedEx announced that it expects to report earnings of $1.10 per diluted share for the second quarter of 2010.
The Company's previous guidance for the quarter was $0.65-$0.95 per diluted share.
